Dual-Phase Steel

Dual-Phase Steel Production with Smart Automation Localized Level-2 Control Technology in Steel

The knowledge-based company Sarir Sanat Tam has developed Level 2 intelligent control systems for the steel and oil industries.

The CEO of the knowledge-based company Sarir Sanat Tam announced the design and production of Level-2 intelligent control systems in the steel and oil industries, stating that these systems improve product quality, optimize energy and raw material consumption, reduce operational costs, and enhance production efficiency.

According to the public relations office of the Isfahan Science and Technology Town, Mohammadreza Rastegari stated that the company has been operating in the industrial park since 2022 and focuses on optimizing and digitizing industrial processes. He added: “In many industries, process adjustments are still performed manually by operators, which leads to high energy consumption, quality loss, and limitations in producing higher-value-added grades.”

Mr. Rastegari, referring to the lack of activity by companies in this field, emphasized: “The technical knowledge related to Level-2 control is considered advanced technology, and many foreign companies have only transferred equipment without sharing the latest knowledge. Sarir Sanat Tam was established to fill this gap.”

He mentioned the company’s flagship project at Saba Steel, saying: “After the sheet rolling stage, the cooling operation plays a crucial role in determining the quality and mechanical properties. By designing specialized software and modeling the entire process, a digital twin of the cooling table was created, and Level-2 control was implemented using intelligent control and artificial intelligence. This system allows engineers to precisely control the final sheet temperature.”

Mr. Rastegari continued: “With this technology, the production of dual-phase sheets such as DP780 became possible, and Saba Steel successfully produced this high-strength, lightweight product last winter, which adds significant value in the automotive industry. This project was previously intended to be executed by Italy’s Danieli Company at ten times the cost, but due to sanctions, it was not implemented and was ultimately entrusted to us.”

The CEO of Sarir Sanat Tam also announced the design of an advanced control system for producing colored sheets at Mobarakeh Steel, stating: “This project, which was not possible with the previous operator system, is currently underway.”

He added: “The company’s activities are mostly project-based and tailored to industrial needs. Designing and implementing Level-2 automation packages worldwide usually costs over one million dollars, but our products are delivered at about one-tenth of that cost and are fully customized, whereas foreign companies resell systems designed for other industries.”

Mr. Rastegari concluded: “Relying on a specialized technical team and extensive experience in the steel and oil industries, Sarir Sanat Tam has the capability to model, digitize, and implement Level-2 automation. These achievements include improved product quality, reduced energy and raw material consumption, lower production costs, and increased efficiency.”

It is noteworthy that the Isfahan Science and Technology Town, with more than 800 knowledge-based and technology companies, serves as one of the country’s innovation hubs and plays an important role in the development of advanced technologies and commercialization of knowledge across various industries.
